What is SEO?
Basically, SEO is a set of practices that allows you to make your content stand out as much as possible on search engines. By taking the steps provided in the guides, you can get basic quality SEO started on your website and begin to see the benefits that the process has to offer. Once you have the basics down, then you can take things to the next level and check out the live training that I mentioned above. Now that we’ve covered a bit of SEO, let’s talk about a couple of other ways that you can start to see more traffic to your site every day.
There are dozens of different social media websites on the Internet with more popping up every single day. While you can use every single one of these two drive more free traffic to your website, some are certainly better than others. Since the time you invest in driving free traffic to your website is one of your most precious resources, it’s important to use it the best way possible to get more traffic in less time.
With that said, let’s look at my top three social media platforms and a few tips for getting more traffic to your site from them.
Many online business owners would argue that the time for getting free traffic from Facebook has already come to pass. While organic outreach from business pages is much harder to obtain than it was just a few years ago, it is still very possible to drive free organic traffic from Facebook to your website. Of course, you do still want to have a business page created for your website, and you do want to be active on that page by doing things like sharing your most recent content, responding to comments on the posts, and occasionally sharing your business page from your personal profile. But there are a few additional things that you can do on Facebook to really gain exposure for your online business brand such as:
- Creating a Business Cover for Your Personal Profile
By nature, people like to know more about others, and will often click on your name to see your profile. By adding a cover image that lists your website on your personal page, you can send traffic from your personal page to your website. - Linking to Your Business
Make certain that you list your online business under your current place of work on your personal profile. Doing this will allow you to have another link to either your website or the Facebook Page that you’ve created for your online business. - Participate in Communities
Once you’ve optimized your page for traffic conversion following the steps above, get out there and be social in communities related to your niche. - Post on Your Business Page When Your Audience is Active
Take the time to really pay attention to when your audience is the most active. This will help you to increase the number of responses that you receive for your posts. Further down the road, it will also help you to get ads to boost your posts at much lower rates.
By following the Facebook tips listed above, you can ensure that the time you spend on the platform is as valuable as possible.
Now that we have Facebook out of the way, let’s take a look at the second social network that is growing faster than any other, and can help your business of worms a lot of free traffic very quickly.
Instagram is a little different than other social media platforms for a few reasons. One big one is that unlike other social media platforms, you are unable to share URLs inside of your posts. This means that you have to be a little more creative when it comes to getting traffic from Instagram to your website.
So, in order to have the most success possible on Instagram, it’s important that you follow a few tips:
- Create a Page On Your Site for Instagram
You only get one place on Instagram to share a URL. So, it’s very important to make it count. Instead of just linking to your home page, take the time to make an instagram specific page. This will allow you to optimize the page as much as possible for mobile traffic. - Create a Unique Offer
It can be very challenging to convert mobile traffic into return visitors to your site. Because of this, it’s a good idea to create a unique offer to capture email addresses from your Instagram audience when they arrive on your unique Instagram page.
This will allow you to send emails to your audience and bring them back to your site on desktop devices in the future. - Use Hashtags
Similar to the way Twitter used to be, using hashtags on instagram can make or break your outreach potential.
Depending on your niche, there are normally a few different trending hashtags that are consistent day after day. Start your campaigns by targeting these hashtags, and add additional tags to individual posts as you gain more experience on the platform. Implementing the above tips into your Instagram posting strategy can really help you gain exposure and traffic for your site very quickly.
The final social media platform that I recommend using to drive more traffic to your site is one that can also really help your SEO strategy.
Google +
Google + is a social platform unlike any other. While there aren’t millions of users on it like there are on Facebook and Instagram, the platform tends to help the SEO of your website significantly. When you stop and think about it, it really isn’t that difficult to see why.
Since Google owns the platform, the running theory is that they value user interaction on the site more heavily than other networks. While this may or may not be true, following the steps that I lay out in this video during step 7 has resulted in significant SEO benefits and rank increases for my sites.
#3 – YouTube
Speaking of videos, more people than ever before are preferring to get their content in video form. Because of this, YouTube has quickly grown to become second largest search engine in the world, the second most popular website, and the third most popular social network. You can access the site on numerous different devices such as Android and Apple phones, gaming consoles like Xbox and PlayStation, and tablets like the Kindle Fire.
Since YouTube is so easily available and wildly popular, you’d be crazy not try to get traffic from the site to your online business. Thankfully, driving traffic from the platform to your site is relatively easy.
All you need to do to get started is create video content for your audience, follow an SEO strategy like the one I mentioned above, and send your viewers to your site by linking to similar information on your site in your video description. Once users begin to find your videos, they will start sharing and commenting on them.
Make certain to take the time to respond to these comments as it will help you gain more exposure and increase the number of people who subscribe to your channel.
Getting Free Targeted Traffic Doesn’t Have to be a Challenge
As you can see from the tips listed above, getting free traffic to your website doesn’t have to be a constant battle. The most important thing is that you always remain consistent and continue to give your audience content that they will find interesting and valuable.
Regardless of if you choose to share that content by implementing good SEO, expanding your social media campaigns or starting a YouTube channel, the important thing is that you follow a clear plan and continue to take action.
