Lots of people are concerned about their health so if you could sell them supplements and other products you could find yourself earning a nice income. But finding a legitimate company to join will be the trick. There are plenty of companies out there that would love to have you sell their products for them. Mannatech is one such company and the company has been around since 1993. This could look like a great opportunity simply because they’ve been in business for so long. But in this Mannatech MLM review, I’ll have to give you the good and the bad. And there’s plenty to be concerned about here.

What is Mannatech MLM?

Mannatech is a multi-level marketing (MLM) company that sells dietary supplements and personal care products through direct selling. It was founded by Samuel Caster in 1993 and their headquarters is in Texas. When it was first founded it had a Christian orientation so the recruitment process started by targeting church congregations.

Are Mannatech’s Products worth Their Price?

Mannatech’s main product started with Ambrotose. Their products are available in 26 countries. This particular product is made with an ingredient called glyconutrient. Mannatech claims that people can restore certain necessary sugars in their diet by using Ambrotose. Mannatech Mlm Review-Ambrotose Life Since the product above is over $100, it would automatically qualify for free shipping as an automatic order. The issue with these products is that they are not approved by the FDA. Lack of FDA approval may make the products more difficult to sell to customers. Not to mention that they can be quite expensive. If your customers order products that do not exceed $100, there’s the added cost of shipping. There are plenty of supplements out there that are less expensive so these products may not be worth their price.

The Mannatech MLM Opportunity

As a Mannatech Associate, you will be responsible for promoting these dietary supplements and personal care products to potential customers. You will receive your own benefits in the form of commissions, bonuses, and rewards. Mannatech Mlm Review-Rewards You don’t want your customers to order just a few products to try out. Your goal will be to get them to sign up to monthly automatic shipments. That’s where you will make more money.

How Much Does it Cost to Join Mannatech?

To get started, you’ll need to pay $49.99 for your membership. Your membership gives you access to special discounts, bonuses and incentives. You’ll also get 90 days free access to the business tools, customer support, and special value bundles.

Can You Make Money with Mannatech?

The questionable business practices and lawsuits may make it quite difficult to make money with these products. However, Mannatech has a multi-level compensation plan that will allow you to work your way up the ladder. In order to move up, you have to sell products and enroll others to join you. Mannatech Mlm Review-Rewards As you can see by the image above, the bonuses apply to packs. Each product has a value of points called product value (PV) points. Your bonuses are based on the number of PVs you earn. You want to make sure that you get your customers to sign up for monthly automatic shipments so you can get monthly commissions from those orders. Another way to earn even more money is by recruiting others to join your team and get them to sell products as well. You’ll earn a commission from their sales and anyone they may recruit.

Pros:

Good BBB Rating According to the BBB (Better Business Bureau) Mannatech has an A+ rating. They are not accredited with the BBB and they have no customer reviews or customer complaints listed. Money-Back Guarantee If your customers are not satisfied with the products they ordered, they must be returned within 180 days for an exchange or refund. Customers are responsible for shipping costs, insurance, and tracking if necessary. Absentee Bonuses You don’t have to sell directly. You can give someone your account number and they can order through the toll-free number. Your bonus is the difference between the retail price and the Associate price.

Cons:

FDA Warning Letter Let me start by saying that there is no FDA approval for these products. In 2017, Mannatech was sent a letter of warning from the FDA (Food and Drug Administration) for illegally marketing products as medicinal and for selling misbranded products. Political Connections Ben Carson, a conservative politician, claimed that Mannatech products were instrumental in the disappearance of his cancer symptoms but there was no proof between the products and his symptoms disappearing. He appeared on the Mannatech website up until 2014. He was removed from the site when he became a U.S. presidential candidate. During a debate in October 2015, Carson denied any involvement with the company yet he was previously a company speaker at promotional events and even made videos for Mannatech. Lawsuits In 2005, a class-action lawsuit was filed against Mannatech for violating the Securities Exchange Act. This lawsuit was the result of an article by Barron’s that questioned Mannatech’s business practices. False Product Claims Mannatech developed a reputation for claiming that their products could treat diseases such as cancer, autism, AIDS and diabetes. There’s no evidence to support these claims. Complaints in the UK A U.K. distributor, who was also a doctor, used her position to illegally promote Mannatech products to people as a treatment for a variety of medical conditions. Patients complained about her marketing the products. As a result, she was dismissed from her position by her employer. Questionable Training  Methods In a 20/20 undercover operation back in June 2007, an investigation into Mannatech found that recruits were taught how to target products to prospective customers with specific illnesses. But recruits had to avoid claiming the products actually claim to cure any diseases.

Is Mannatech Worth Joining?

There’s a lot of controversy surrounding the reputation of this company and their products. Between the lawsuits and questionable business practices along with a warning letter from the FDA, this could be a very tough sell. And let’s not forget that you’re not getting a base pay. This is strictly commissions all the way. The problem with this business model is that the associates do all the work and get very little benefit. You have to work quite hard to find steady customers while recruiting others to join your team.

Final Thoughts

Selling products through MLMs is a lot of work before you start to see any financial rewards. The reality of this business model is that you can probably get people to try the products. The problem will be getting them to stay and order on a monthly basis. When it comes to recruiting people to join you, they will need to see that there’s money to be made. And if they are not making money in a short period of time, they will abandon ship as well. As you can see, this is not a business model you can rely on for consistent income. There are a lot of parts that you won’t have any control over.
