If you are looking for a way to make some extra cash, signing up as a distributor with an MLM might look easy to you. Luckily, people always seem to need kitchen products. Hy Cite is a company that sells the Royal Prestige range of kitchen products through direct selling. In this Royal Prestige MLM review, I’ll check out the products to see if you can make money selling them and if this is a decent opportunity for you. It may not be as easy as you think.

What is Royal Prestige MLM?

Hy Cite Enterprises is a multi-level marketing company based in Madison, WI that sells the Royal Prestige cookware. The company was founded in 1959 by Peter O. Johnson. They have 92 locations across the United States and in a number of other countries. Royal Prestige includes a number of different kitchen products such as pots and pans, dinnerware, flatware, kitchen knives and other kitchen products and accessories. There are over 4,500 distributors worldwide and average 250,000 new customers each year. In 2015, Hy Cite reported revenue of $195 million. In 2019 they reported revenue of $306 million. So the company’s revenue continues to climb.

Are Royal Prestige Products Worth Their Price?

Royal Prestige claims to have an exclusive line of cookware with advanced technology. There are three different cookware lines: Nutra Ease, Royal Prestige, and Kitchen Charm.  Other products include cutlery, juicers, tableware,  and more. Royal Prestige Mlm Review - Cookware Some of the cookware sets range in price from $2,000 to $4,500 per set. The 5-piece Innove Royal Prestige Waterless Induction Cooking System (seen above) was listed on eBay for $995.95 excluding shipping. Another product I found was the Innove Royal Prestige 4-quart stock pot also listed on eBay for $349.95. According to my research, there’s no official product catalog that include prices.  Prices and complaints were found on customer comments left on the BBB (Better Business Bureau) website.   Royal Prestige Mlm Review - Bbb Complaint In order to compare prices, I needed to try and find something similar. Below is a 17-piece set of professional cookware I found on Amazon. The original price was $294.99. It’s on sale for $249.99. This set has a 4.5 star review by the 994 customers who bought it. Royal Prestige Mlm Review - Pro Products   But, the Royal Prestige products have had their share of problems over the years. Many of the pots and pans in the line have been recalled. Some common problems that were reported to the company include pans that melted and black spots appearing after use. So there are certainly similar and better products out there at a fraction of the price. The professional set above is one of the most expensive sets I found. I couldn’t find anything in the $1,000 range. I think there are definitely better products out there you can find on your own.

The Royal Prestige MLM Opportunity

You’ll need to be signed up through a sponsor in order to become a distributor. If you don’t have one, you will have one appointed to you. You don’t have to have any work experience which is a plus so anyone can sign up. These products are sold through demonstrations so you promote them through private parties, demonstrations at outdoor fairs and bridal fairs.

How Much Does It Cost to Join Royal Prestige?

There is no information on how much it costs to join the Royal Prestige MLM as a distributor. But I’m guessing that you must have to purchase a starter kit of some sort so you can conduct demonstrations.

Can You Make Money with Royal Prestige?

It’s difficult to say how much you can make with this offer. There’s no compensation information available.

Pros:

No Experience Necessary One of the main reasons people find MLMs so attractive is that they don’t require you to have any real work experience. Such is the case with Hy Cite as well. As long as you are old enough to work, you can sing up as a Distributor. Variety of Products There are a variety of different products for customers to choose from so there’s something for everyone. Customers can choose from a range of pots and pans, tableware, cutlery and even small appliances like juicers. Lifetime Warranty The lifetime warranty applies mainly to the pots and pans and is for a duration of 50 years which they consider a lifetime. Royal Prestige Mlm Review - Warranty Payment Plans Some of the products in this line are pretty pricey but if customers can’t pay in full you can offer them a payment plan option.

Cons:

Very Expensive Products There’s not a lot of pricing information to go on here, but the pricing information I did find indicates that these pots and pans are quite expensive. Product Recalls The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) issued a recall for a number of the Royal Prestige Cookware in January 2013 because the product collapsed or melted when exposed to heat. In one case, one customer was splattered with hot oil when the pan collapsed. Horrible Customer Service There are 50 complaints listed on the BBB (Better Business Bureau) website.  Of those 50, only one is a 4-star review. All the others are one-star reviews. Customers who have had problems with the products have not been able to get their issues resolved through Customer Service. Very few of these complaints have been addressed by the company. No Return Policy If you are having any problems with the pans, you can’t return them. But Hy Cite will have your Distributor contact you to provide cooking tips. Here’s the problem with the return policy. If a customer places an order, the clock immediately starts ticking even if they haven’t received the order. If the customer doesn’t receive the order for a week, they are already outside the 3-day return policy. Lawsuit Settlement In 2009, there was a settlement against Hy Cite in Los Angeles resulting from consumer complaints about being duped into buying expensive cookware using deceptive demonstrations and scare tactics. The company was ordered to pay $350,000 in restitution.

Is Royal Prestige a Scam?

This is one company you definitely want to steer clear of. The problems with the products, poor customer service, no return policy and lawsuits will be enough to scare customers away. There’s also not a lot of information out there in regard to compensation for distributors or how much it would cost to join them. If there are product demonstrations involved, that means you probably have to buy a starter kit. But there’s no pricing available.

Final Thoughts

Selling products through direct selling is difficult if you don’t have a wide network to fall back on. But if the products are inferior and/or have poor customer service and other problems, you will lose customers faster than you make them. 1. I was just interviewed by Royal Prestige, though they disguised the interview as something in my professional area which is advertising. Ten minutes into the interview was when they finally revealed the name of the company and, since it was a Zoom interview, I quickly checked about it and ended up here. During the interview they also said using their products reduces the risk of cancer and lowers blood tension. It was at that point that I just raised my hand and said thanks but no thanks. They also said I could easily make $20K per month by the second year and that they would move me (at their expense) to Denver, CO even if I do not have a US work visa (I’m currently in Venezuela). It’s amazing how these companies can dupe not only their customers but prospective distributors willing to work for them.

  2. Hi Jay!

The product range looks alluring but goodness me there is a lot of negatives going on here! Why do you think that such companies have to go to such lengths and to lie about everything and is it really worth it in the end? Especially since anyone can publicly comment negatively about their experiences with Royal Prestige MLM. Don’t you think the MLM model is out of date though? Especially with the likes of affiliate marketing, yet here we have dubious MLMs trying to compete. People looking to go into an MLM surely need to be looking at affiliate marketing instead.

  3. Hello, I have seen your article on “Royal Prestige MLM Review – Making Money Selling Pot(s)?” When there are good affiliate programs available on the internet Why are people running behind these MLM programs that are trying to dupe people 🙁 Affiliate marketing is any day better than MLM. It is true that affiliate marketing takes time, patience and hard work. But, at the end it pays off.

  4. Affiliate marketing is a nice business when you are in with the companies whose products are fast selling and you know your way around when it has to do with MLM schemes and all. For me seeking pots is a great business because we all make use of it bit how often do you get people who needs replacement and also the competition is high and with an expensive stuffs, it’s a no for me

  5. Hi Tony, thanks for sharing this. I find it astounding that this company has been around so long selling what are obviously sub-standard products. It is a sad commentary on MLM that so many of the companies suffer from these kinds of poor quality products, massively over-priced, with very poor after-sales service. The story of the elderly woman who was preyed upon by an unscrupulous salesperson is truly appalling. It is lamentable that this company has not been forced to close down. Thanks again for sharing this. Best regards, Andy
