Last Updated on

SeneGence MLM has been around for many years so chances are you may have come across these products. Many people love buying products at parties so maybe you could make some decent money here. In this SeneGence MLM review, I’ll take a look at the products and explain the ins and outs of how this program works. It might not be so great.

Senegence LogoWhat is SeneGence MLM?

SeneGence is a MLM (multi-level marketing) company that sells anti-aging products, skincare and makeup products. It was founded by Joni Rogers-Kante in 1999 and she is currently the CEO. SeneGence is headquartered in California and as of 2018 there were over 500,000 distributors. Outside the United States, SeneGence products and distributors are also located in Australia, Canada, Mexico, Hong Kong and New Zealand.

Are SeneGence Products Worth Their Price?

SensGence have many products in their catalog but their premier product is LipSense lipstick. It was initially sold as a set but is now sold individually. Other products in the SeneGence catalog include anti-aging products, skincare, hair products, makeup and face products for men.

SeneGence MLM Review - LipSense

The LipSense lipstick comes in over 45 colours. According to the literature, it claims to restore moisture and does not dry out your lips. It’s waterproof and lasts between 4 and 18 hours. In order for it to be truly waterproof though, you need to apply the LipSense Gloss to seal the lips.

Unfortunately, this particular product has received many customer complaints. Complaints range from a tingling and burning sensation when applied, allergic reactions, and chapped and peeling lips. All this from a product that claims not to dry out your lips.

Unusual Chemicals

One of the chemicals in this lipstick is Propylene Glycol. This chemical is also found in antifreeze, electronic cigarettes, and paint and probably shouldn’t be anywhere near lips. Another chemical, Parabens, has been known to cause allergic reactions. These are just a few of the chemicals found in this lipstick that can cause bad reactions.

SeneGence MLM Review - Approvals

Other products such as the mascara, foundations and moisturizers have better reviews. Keep in mind that these products are made with FDA approved ingredients but the products themselves are not FDA approved.

The SeneGence MLM Opportunity

The SeneGence MLM opportunity starts with you signing up through a sponsor. You work as an independent contractor so you are not an employee of the company. In order to earn money, you need to have people host parties where you can demonstrate the products and give makeovers.

Your membership also includes a SeneSite within the corporate website. This allows you to sell products through your own website as well as social media.

How Much Does It Cost to Join SeneGence?

When you sign up with SeneGence, you’ll need to purchase a New Distributor Kit (NDK) for $55 which is essentially a membership fee. From there you can choose a Distributor Pack. There are five different packs to choose from depending on the area you want to focus on.

  • Lips Pack: $75
  • Glamour Demo Pack: $295
  • Qualified Distributor Pack: $345
  • Significant SeneSeller Pack: $795
  • Fast Start Pack: $1,195

Your contract is valid for one year and renews annually on your anniversary date for a cost of $55. This charge covers updates, newsletters, promotions, and miscellaneous costs.

Can You Make Money with SeneGence?

The way you earn money with SeneGence is to buy products at the discounted wholesale price and sell them at the retail price. The difference is your commission. The discount is between 20% and 50% depending on the product. To sell products, you provide demonstrations. This can be done one on one or in a group/party setting.

SeneGence MLM Review - Earnings

Other ways to make money is by recruiting others to be part of your team. You earn residual income from all products sold by your team and build up a network.

You can also promote products through your website on the SeneGence website and through social media.

Pros:

More Than One Way To Sell Products

Many MLMs, including SeneGence, recognize that the Internet and social media play a huge role in how we communicate on a daily basis. SeneGence provides distributors with their own webspace on their website to promote products and take orders. Likewise with social media. You can set up a Facebook page to interact with your customers and sell products.

Wide Variety

There are a wide variety of products in the SeneGence catalog. As a distributor, you can focus on a certain type of product and buy the corresponding kit.

100% Money Back Guarantee

All products comes with a 100% money back guarantee. If a customer wants to return any products, they must be returned within 12 months. The customer can get a refund or exchange. There is also a discretionary 10% handling fee subtracted. This is up to the distributor.

Cons:

Shipping, Handling and Sales Tax Costs

Distributors pay all shipping and handling costs as well as all sales tax. In order to calculate your true earnings, you will need to subtract these costs from your commission checks so your earnings won’t be as big as you expect.

Pricey Kits

The bare minimum kit you can purchase is the Lip Kit for $75. That’s in addition to the $55 application/membership fee. Other kits are much more expensive.

Misinformation

Potential distributors were mislead as to the income levels and recruitment expectations. Distributors were also encouraged to make deceptive advertising claims.

Minimum Product Purchase

You will have to maintain a minimum purchase in order to remain a distributor. This means that you will have to buy a minimum of $200 worth of products every six months following your last purchase.

Unsafe Lipstick

Some products such as the LipSense lipstick may not be safe to use especially if you are pregnant because they contain polyethylene glycol-related chemicals and parabens.

Customer Complaints

According to the BBB, (Better Business Bureau) SeneGence has an A+ rating and a 4-star review rating. Unfortunately, there are 62 complaints. Several complaints about poor customer service when products were returned for a refund or exchange.

Is SeneGence a Scam?

The problem with this particular opportunity is that there have been a lot of complaints about the company and the products. That may make these products difficult to sell without resorting to shady tactics. And what better way to lose customers than to sell them products you can’t stand behind yourself?

Final Thoughts

MLMs, in general, are tough ways to make money. They have expanded their sales techniques to include social media which can make it easier to sell products. Building a team is usually the hard part and if your team doesn’t make money then neither do you. Most of the time you spend working for an MLM is not paid. You are only paid commissions for the products you sell and the products sold through your team. That’s it. I’d be willing to bet that if you divided the time you spent by your commission check, you’d be disappointed.

Building your own business doesn’t have to be that hard. If you are interested in creating your own home business, check out my #1 recommendation. All the tools you need are right there including a website, hosting, training, 24/7 support and a ton of great tools.
