Soloism ReviewIt’s a fact that you’re the only person who can ultimately control whether or not you succeed online, offline and in life. But does that mean that you should go it completely alone? In this Soloism review, we’re going to take a look to see if the solo approach is the best way to get started with your online business making efforts, and if it is, how good is the Soloism course at teaching you what you need in order to succeed.

What is Soloism?

Soloism is a course that was created by Robert Gerrish, a best selling Australian author who co-wrote the book Flying Solo: How to go it alone in business. He also is one of the founding members of the Flying Solo community website and Facebook group. The course was created with professionals in mind, and once inside, it’s very easy to tell that it’s geared more toward current corporate professionals that are looking for a way to leave the corporate world and utilize their skills working for themselves as freelancers. If you enjoy the idea of freelancing, I could certainly see this course as a great motivational jumping point, but honestly, if you’re considering starting a freelancing business, there are far more profitable online business ideas that you could be pursuing instead. I believe that the intention of the course is to take some of the content that is available over on the Flying Solo forums, and put it into a more easily digested form. The problem is that while it is easier to follow along with the information. Essentially, it’s mostly the same information that’s available for free on the forums, just in video format. Have a look at this promo video with Robert Gerrish,
Soloism is certainly not lacking on the video content either. With around 80 short video lessons, you can hop in and grab them anytime you want, and walk away with a bit of inspiration, even if you only have a few minutes to do so.

Who is Soloism For?

As mentioned above, Soloism is really geared for those who have a professional background already. If you’re a CPA working in an accounting firm for example, Soloism can help you gain the motivation and direction to start working for yourself as a freelancer rather than going in and punching the 9 to 5 time clock everyday. If you’re wanting to just get away from your job, but continue doing what you do as a current corporate employee, then this course may be able to help you do just that. I say “may” because the bulk of what you are going to find inside of Soloism are motivational and inspirational style videos that are very professionally done, but really fail to give you a direct path on what you must do. Think of it as a course telling you why you should go off on your own, and encouraging you to do it, but really failing to tell you exactly how you can get started on your own in your current industry.

Pros of Soloism

  • Lots of Great, Short Videos There’s more than enough content to view, and it’s very inspirational in nature. Best of all, if you are a busy professional, you can watch 2 or 3 of them while on your lunch break, and walk away with a feeling of achievement.
  • Video Quality is Top Notch It looks like there was quite a bit of time invested into making the videos inside of Soloism.. The result is a very clean, crisp video series.
  • Very Professional in Tone It’s very easy to see exactly who the intended audience for this course is. The tone of all the videos is very professional, but yet also entertaining. The result are videos that you feel have effort and intention behind them.

Cons of Soloism

  • Training is More Theoretical than Practical The majority of the content inside of Soloism is geared toward why you would want to do this, and how wonderful going solo can be.
  • Missing a Step-By-Step Plan The biggest challenge with getting started with any kind of online business, (even freelancing) is actually having a plan to follow along with. Unfortunately, when it comes down to saying “do this and be successful,” Soloism really drops the ball.
  • Very Cryptic Titles If you watch a great video and want to come back to reference it later, you’re going to have a bit of trouble. For example, one video titled “Have you painted your Ferrari,” is a great video discussing why you should be visually professional. Unfortunately, if you don’t write down exactly what that video is, you can find yourself trying to find it again after watching it for the first time.

Final Thoughts on Soloism

If you are a professional who already has a basic understanding of how to be a good freelancer, then this course could really help push you over the edge, and help you to gain massive traction with your clients. If you’re just starting out however, or currently considering the possibilities of leaving your 9 to 5 to run your own online business, I think you would be better off exploring other courses that are more about the “how-to,” rather than the “why.” For those who are just getting started, I think you’re going to find yourself wondering “what’s next,” after you’ve got through the course. So, if you’re looking for a more direct and easy to follow, actionable course, then I recommend that you check out my top training resource instead. It will not only tell you why running an online business is a great option from your current corporate grind, but also give you the step-by-step action plan that you are going to need in order to succeed with your new business endeavor. On the other hand, if you’re already having some success with freelancing, and just wanting to know how to really pull in more clients and work, then you should certainly give Soloism a try.

  1. I like how you put it that the info here is more theoretical than practical. I think so many times I’ve looked into a product only to find these vague explanations of “how good things could be” while I’m here asking “well how good are they in reality??”. It’s made me bash my head down into my keyboard many times, lol.

Thanks for the review here Jay. You’re sincere and thorough as always!
