Everyone likes a bargain, right? There’s no better feeling than paying less for something. It automatically increases the value when you know you can get a good deal on something. What if you could actually make money selling discounts? Wouldn’t everyone you know want a piece of the pie? That’s where Team National comes in. In this Team National MLM review, we’ll look at how this membership savings program makes it possible for you to earn extra money. Don’t let the membership prices fool you.

Team National Mlm Review

What is Team National?

Team National was founded by Richard Loehr in 1997 and is based in Florida. It’s a multi-level marketing (MLM) company that sells discounts on products and services.

Team National has been losing money over the last few years. In 2018, the reported revenue was $734 million. In 2020, the reported revenue was $640 million. There are over 523,231 distributors across the country.

Are Team National Products Worth Their Price?

The Team National product is a membership program. The way it works is that Team National negotiates discounts on products and services from major companies such as AT&T, hotels.com, Walmart, MetLife, and others. Participants who buy memberships will have access to exclusive discounts.

Team National Mlm Review - Products

Team National has just two products. The 2-year Standard Membership and the 10-year Premium Membership. The prices are in the image below.

Team National Mlm Review - Memberships

The Premium/Business Membership is a lifetime membership. The 2-year Standard Membership renews at the end of the 2-year term for $795 a year. Below is a sample of some of the products and services:

  • Travel insurance
  • Financial services
  • Health discount benefit plans
  • Rental cars
  • Vehicles
  • Hotels
  • Communication services

Team National also sells physical products that include commercial office furniture, home furnishings, home improvement, floors and rugs, and more. Buying these products through Team National can save customers up to 65% with a membership.

So are these products worth the price? I don’t think so because the money a customer pays for membership could be used to pay for the products and services offered. And there are very few people who would use all the products and services. So why would a customer need a membership at all?

The Team National Opportunity

To join Team National, sign up through your Independent Marketing Director (IMD). You earn money by selling memberships. Training includes online audio, videos, and training events.

IMDs sell new memberships to customers with a one-time fee or with a down payment and a small monthly fee over a period of time.

IMDs can share membership information through social media such as Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, blogs, etc., but memberships and products cannot be sold through social media.

How Much Does It Cost To Join Team National?

New Independent Marketing Directors (IMDs) pay $49 for a starter kit that includes sales and marketing materials. An annual fee of $69 is paid around the anniversary date to maintain your active status.

There’s also a “modest monthly fee” of $25/month, that includes ongoing support, accounting reviews, training updates, and other marketing tools.

It is also specified that IMDs are responsible for all expenses incurred while conducting Team National business.

Can You Make Money With Team National?

The target audience for membership products like this is very specific. Even the cheaper membership is expensive for the average person.

Standard 2-year memberships will earn you $50. The Lifetime membership earns you $100. That’s about a 5-6% commission. And it gets worse if your new member is financing the membership or using a credit card.

But let’s assume you can sell these memberships. Team National claims that membership sales can earn you monthly residual income. Unfortunately, I could not find any information to back this up.

The real money is in recruiting other members to your team. You will have a left team and a right team. Each time you recruit a new member, you earn points. You also earn points from anyone recruited by members of your downline.

To earn $1,000, you need to have 10 points. Sounds easy, right? The standard 2-year membership equals one point. The Lifetime membership equals 3 points. You can either sell the memberships yourself to earn points or earn through your downline. Judging by the membership prices, it doesn’t sound easy to me.

Team National Mlm Review - Income

You’ll notice in the image above that 69.7% of all IMD Representatives made a high of $105 that year. FOR THE ENTIRE YEAR! That’s 8.75 a month. That will barely get you a cup of coffee and a donut these days.

Pros of Team National

No Monthly Sales Quota: IMDs are not required to meet a monthly sales quota.

Inexpensive to Join: Luckily, you are not required to buy a membership yourself and the starter kit is only $49.

Flexible Schedule: This is a job you can do in your spare time after work or on the weekends.

Cons of Team National

Products are Expensive: There are only two products and they are memberships. Both are very expensive for the average person.

Abysmal Compensation Plan: Selling memberships will only earn you $50 to $100 (6%) depending on the membership type.

Exaggerated Income Claims: According to TINA (Truth in Advertising), Team National distributors have been accused of exaggerating their income and claiming that participants have a better lifestyle because they can travel, quit their jobs, buy real estate, and luxury vehicles. 88% of Team National distributors earned no income at all in 2017.

Customer Complaints: According to the BBB (Better Business Bureau) customers complained of feeling pressured to buy memberships; misleading promises of income; no refunds when requested, disappointing savings on products and services, and other complaints.

Is Team National A Scam?

Team National is an MLM company that has a checkered past based on the BBB and TINA information. In fact, it has been impossible to find positive reviews. Most MLMs sell tangible products whereas Team National sells memberships. At the time of this review, Team National was acquired by ACN so there’s no telling what’s going to happen to this company.

Final Thoughts

Whenever you work for an MLM, you are not an employee. There’s no base pay. It’s strictly commission-based. You’re also not reimbursed for your expenses which is usually a perk even if you work as a contractor. You’ll really have to hustle to make money here.
