When it comes to running an online business, there are only a few things that you absolutely must have. One of those things is reliable WordPress web hosting. In this article, to be talking about why having a quality web host is so important, showcasing some of the best companies out there to go with, and discussing why one company you may have heard of may not be your best option. Let’s learn about the Top 3 WordPress Hosting Providers of 2020!

Why Reliable Hosting is Important

While you may understand that web hosting is an absolute necessity to the success of your online business, you may not understand exactly why reliable hosting is so very important. After all, if you have poor web hosting, a lot of the effort you place into creating an amazing website may be for nothing if you’re using the wrong hosting provider. There are actually several reasons for this. First, the most obvious reason is that unreliable web hosting could mean that your website goes offline during crucial time periods. For example, imagine how frustrating it would be to be ranking in the top positions of Google for the keyword “best toys,” only to see your website go offline as the Christmas selling season gets into full swing. Not only do your visitors become frustrated when your sites go offline, fans who come to your sites frequently may start refusing to visit when they find them off-line on multiple occasions. If having your site go offline concerns you, imagine having it completely taken away.  With unreliable web hosting, that scenario could potentially become a reality. Often, web hosting providers try to save money when it comes to security. Sadly, hackers can take advantage of these security flaws and steal your website altogether. While having your site go off-line or stolen are the worst case scenarios, there are several other issues that poor web hosting companies can bring into light like;
  • SSL Issues Since SSL is becoming next to mandatory for SEO, being able to install it quickly and easily is crucial to your business’s success. Some hosting providers will charge excessive fees or simply not offer the service at all.
  • Site Backups Backing up your website is very important to the stability of your business. While it is always recommended to back up your site on your side, a quality hosting provider will also back your site up from time to time on the server side.
  • Slow Server Speeds While there are a lot of things that you can do to your site that help to improve speed like compressing images, optimizing your themes coding, and so on, there are many other things that must be put into place on the hosting company’s side that you have no control of whatsoever.
As you can see, having reliable web hosting is very crucial to the overall success of your online business. So, who are the best WordPress hosting providers of 2020? Let’s go though them below. If you’re in a hurry and want to know which is my top pick, jump to my top pick for WordPress Hosting here.

HostGator – Quality WordPress Hosting on a Budget

Hostgator Wordpress Hosting When you’re just getting started with your online business, every penny really counts. If you just need quality WordPress web hosting, and you don’t want to break the bank to get it, then the option you want to go with is going to be HostGator. While they do offer less expensive packages, the option that you want to go with is going to be their WordPress hosting platform. If saving as much money as possible is your overall goal, you can get WordPress hosting for as little as $5.95 per month if you agree to pay for three years in advance. Just be aware that you will not be able to get refund (after 30 days) and would make it harder to cancel HostGator. If you’re just wanting to go with a monthly option, you’re going to be paying at least $14.99 monthly. It’s important to note that even at $14.99 per month, you’re still paying significantly less than you would be for quality WordPress hosting with many other providers. If getting started with your online business for as little of investment as possible is your primary concern, then this is the hosting plan you’re going to want to go with. Even at these low prices, HostGator still offers round-the-clock support should issues arise and they can even help you migrate your site to their hosting platform from your existing hosting company.

WP Engine – Impressive Hosting for a Price

Wp Engine Hosting For Wordpress If you’re just looking for incredibly powerful hosting, and budget is no issue, and the company you’re going to want to go with is WP Engine. With plans starting at $35 per month, WP Engine is built from the ground up a WordPress hosting. It is important to note that their $35 monthly plan only includes hosting for one domain, but if you’re looking for premium hosting for a single domain, and you already know how to create and run your website, this is the company that you want to go with. They offer an impressive suite of tools that is designed to help you create and maintain a fast loading website without too much fuss on the backend. They have very impressive around-the-clock support that is staffed by knowledgeable experts who understand the nuances of running an online business on the WordPress platform. If you have the budget to afford high quality web hosting and don’t need any help getting started with your online business, then this is the company that you want to go with for WordPress web hosting.

What About BlueHost?

As I’m sure you’ve noticed by now, the company that I have not mentioned at all is the one that many other sites tell you to go with when you’re getting started with your online business. The company that I’m referring to is BlueHost. Do I have something against BlueHost personally? Not really. I just believe that you receive very poor quality hosting for the amount of money that you pay the company. Many people of stated that as their sites begin to gain more traffic, they’ve noticed that their sites become slower and slower. This is because while blue host allows you to have unlimited websites hosted on the platform, they do limit the number of data connections that you are able to receive. This basically means that when more people try to access your site it’s delivered much slower due to limited data connections. While this may not be a big deal initially, if you’re running a website that gets more seasonal traffic, you may find your sites offline altogether when there are significant sudden increases in the number of visitors coming to your website. The second major problem that you may find yourself running into should you choose to host your website with BlueHost is the amount of time that it often takes to receive support when you need it. Many users have stated that while basic questions can be handled quickly and easily, more advanced issues often take days or weeks to be resolved. When you’re running an online business, every second that your site is offline costs money. For that reason, having it up and running efficiently is crucial to your success.

Why do so many People Recommend BlueHost Then?

In short, the main reason that so many people recommend BlueHost for folks who are just getting started is one, they offer cheap hosting solutions, and two, they offer some of the highest affiliate commissions available on the market, as you can see below. Bluehost Affiliate Program Yes, you’re reading that correct. BlueHost pays affiliates $65 per sign up even when people are signing up for their least expensive packages. This is because the company counts on hosting sign-ups sticking around for a long time. Unfortunately, this often ends up being the case. This is because it’s much easier to upgrade your hosting package with the company that is already hosting your sites than it is to find hosting elsewhere. So, for many online business owners, when they believe their site has outgrown the basic level of hosting they will often upgrade to a higher tier rather than shopping around. This results in spending more money than you would be for higher quality hosting and simply staying with the company on a more expensive package.

My #1 Pick for WordPress Hosting – Wealthy Affiliate Hosting Wealthy Affiliate Hosting

If you’ve ever taken the time to check out my review of Wealthy Affiliate, then you already know that I’m a major supporter of the training and community that the platform has to offer. However, one thing that you may not be aware of is just how awesome the WordPress hosting services are. What sets Wealthy Affiliate hosting apart from other providers?

Room to Grow

Wealthy Affiliate Hosting Has Room To Grow If you’re just getting started with your first online business, then you may only have an idea for one website. While this is the case for a lot of beginners, most people want to have the ability to create multiple sites down the road. The hosting that Wealthy Affiliate offers with their premium membership is designed to grow with you as you grow your online business. They do this by allowing you to host up to 25 of your own domains as well as 25 free SiteRubix websites. It’s not hard to see that the platform is designed to help you grow as an online entrepreneur. A lot of other companies will only allow you to host a handful of sites without having to upgrade to much higher priced services later. Thankfully, this is not the case with Wealthy Affiliate as they want you to grow and expand as you learn more about running a successful online business.

Built for Speed

Wealthy Affiliate Hosting - Site Speed As I briefly mentioned above, having a fast website is crucial if you want your online business to succeed. With mobile browsing becoming more commonplace every day, and search engines placing emphasis on faster load times, making certain that your website performs as quickly as possible is very important. Wealthy Affiliate has implemented a process that they refer to as SiteSpeed that is designed from the ground up to deliver your website as quickly as possible to visitors. While you’ll still have to optimize your site for speed by doing things such as compressing images and combining code areas, knowing that everything is running the right way server side takes a lot of the technical jargon off your plate.

SSL at the Push of a Button

Wealthy Affiliate Ssl Certificates Having a secure website is more important than it ever has been before. While it’s always been a necessity if you were running an e-commerce site, now secure sites receive preferential ranking on search engines. Many hosting companies charge extra fees to allow you to have an SSL certificate. Wealthy Affiliate, on the other hand not only gives you free SSL certification, they also make it extremely easy to set up. With just the click of one button, you can ensure that your site has an SSL certificate, so you can enjoy higher search engine rankings without all the aggravation that normally comes with security installation.

Spam and Security

Wealthy Affiliate Hosting - Spam And Security   Normally when you’re working with WordPress, you have to install plugins that are designed to prevent hackers from gaining access to your site and filter out spam comments that other websites try to take advantage of in order to gain backlinks. Instead of forcing you to use plugins for services like these, Wealthy Affiliate instead offers a service called SiteProtect that stops comments and hackers before you need to intervene. This eliminates additional plug-ins from your site that can cause slower load times and have potential vulnerabilities since they are so well known to be used by many different online business owners.

Double Hosting for Less Down Time

Double Hosting For Less Down Time Having your site go offline can be a very expensive issue. Not only can it cost you money when visitors are trying to access your content, but it can also cause visitors to your site to become frustrated and not return again in the future. Wealthy Affiliate takes the time to host your site on multiple servers so that downtime is limited significantly. Since help is available around the clock via support ticket, when your site does go down it is quickly remedied by a support staff that is always available. Daily Backups Wealthy Affiliate Hosting - Daily Backups While you should always be backing your site up on your side, let’s face it, life happens. I can’t tell you how many times I have forgotten to personally back my site up only to find that I needed it when a rogue plug-in or failed update suddenly crashed my website. Thankfully, if this happens to you, and your hosting with Wealthy Affiliate, you can be back up and running very quickly. This is because the Wealthy Affiliate hosting platform back your website up on the server side every single day. Should you ever need to use a backup, all you have to do is contact support and they will happily install it for you. This get you back up and running without having to try and upload a backup and then fighting to get everything looking the way it did before.

Wealthy Affiliate Hosting in a Nutshell

As you can see above, hosting with Wealthy Affiliate is the Best Managed WordPress Hosting Platform and a great option regardless of if you need the training that comes included with a premium membership. The hosting that they offer is comparable to other plans that can cost you hundreds of dollars per month and best of all, it’s included with your premium membership. While there are other companies that offer great hosting, you’d be hard-pressed to find another group that not only will host your website with top-notch precision, but also teach you everything you need to know to grow your business to replace your current income and beyond. When you think about it, it only makes sense that they offer top-notch hosting with their great training.

  1. Hi Jay

This is definitely one of the most comprehensive reviews I’ve read in a long time. It is very good and will help a lot of people in choosing the right WordPress hosting.

My best takeaway is your elaboration on Blue Host. I really thought them to be a very good hosting provider but you exposed them for what they really are. It is very bad of them to limit the number of data connections to your site, especially when you need it at busy times.

Thanks for this article, I really enjoyed reading it.
    Take care!

  2. Hi Jay!

I just started at Wealthy Affiliate and your article is very insightful. It can be really difficult to find reliable web hosts, but through my experience with Wealthy Affiliate and after reading your article, I think I have finally landed on the right path.

I can’t wait to grow in this community and read more from experienced people like yourself, keep up the great work! I will definitely be back for more info!

    All the best,
    Matteo

  3. Jay, I have been looking at various hosting providers myself. I find myself in complete agreement with your ideas on these host providers.

I recently did a BlueHost review and after belonging to WA and embracing their training, help and very reasonable costs I wouldn’t join Bluehost myself. I like my information up front. And I hate add ons.

I found some really positive reviews about Bluehost and some really rabid dislike ones. Mostly about help!

I count myself extremely lucky that Wealthy Affiliate was the second platform I looked at and I found a scam review by one WA member on the first platform. Saved by a WA member although I was getting suspicous early on in my exploration.

You have presented a well informed bit of knowledge here so thanks for that.

    Ciao
    Helen

  4. Hey Jay:

Thanks for validating, yet again, that I did make a great choice of host providers when I went with Wealthy Affiliates.

I’m still finding my voice and learning how to talk to robots and all that, but I do NOT have to worry about speed issues or downtime or any other disasters ’cause the good guys at WA have got my back.

    Thanks, y’all!

  5. Hallo there Jay,

I have been using Bluehost for a few of my websites and I can say the experience there has been fair thus far . I can’t complain much but I would love to try something else.

I saw the wealthy affiliate hosting features and was really amazed. It seems to be the real deal for me. Funny how quality things are not popular, like this one.

I will be getting into it and even share it with my friends.
Let’s make quality stuff go viral. :)

  6. Hi Jay!

I read this article with a keen eye as I am looking for new hosting. I gotta say, and to clarify I do have one of the hostings that you have mentioned.

    WA!

Although a great training platform and an all-round fantastic community (I love your live training! never missed a single one in nearly 3 years!). I do find your rating of their hosting to be out of tune with my experiences which is a slow site and a lot of spam despite having all the features like site speed turned on and the anti-spam but still my site is sluggish and some spam does get through.

And site support have not been able to fix the prob!. Any suggestions?

  7. I’ve heard Bluehost was bad. That they also own a lot of other hosting companies with the same quality of product and service. The bit of dirt I heard was the support center is more likely to be sales staff who don’t necessarily know how to fix any problem you have but are VERY skilled at convincing you to upgrade and pay your way out of any problems you are experiencing. I hope Wealthy Affiliate is not like that. Can you give me any assurances around the support at Wealthy Affiliate? Thanks for any response in advance.

  8. I like your down to earth communication style. Your openness makes me feel safer about your business. I am usually very wary of a new site about online work. So many of these places have such a ‘money now’ focus that it scares many away I think.
I like money too, but we’ve all been bombarded with so many of those ‘learn how I made $50,000 my first month in business’ ads that I’ve grown weary and don’t even read past the headline. Your article had to wait for me to finish it. I was taken with the message so I followed the prompts then had to come back to complete reading it.
I’ve had the issue of my site not coming up when I log on, so I understand that frustration. I didn’t realize how many facets to running the hosting side of things there were. I guess that is just the ones we are interested in as website owners.
Nicely detailed review, thank you. I like the daily back up service with Wealthy Affiliate hosting. I know I forget to do things like that routinely.

  9. Hi Jay; I have read your review and It I know that you have said the truth about all the Web Hosts that you have mentioned.

Nobody. I simple mean that nobody can deny that Wealthy Affiliate has surpass all the others in the quality of what it offers.

Do you believe that all the Site Support staff is giving to premium members the Site support that they are in need of?

  10. Hi Jay,

Many thanks for this informative post. As a Wealthy Affiliate member and really FIRST TIME online marketer, I shudder to think where I’d be wandering about in the online wilderness today without WA. I like the way you acknowledge different online marketer needs and how the other 2 WP hosting options might work. But from what I have gleaned working my online presence over the past months through WA, there are a lot of inexperienced people of all ages out there who can and do benefit from the peerless support, training, and structured encouragement, both direct and indirect, that WA offers, for a very nominal fee. As more people cast about for options to ever dwindling (in quantity and quality) corporate job opportunities, Wealthy Affiliate will be there to make what seems (to many) a Herculean task of building an onsite business into a series of clear, measurable steps that gently coax people out of their comfort zones and ACT. To this old enough to be jaded soul, WA embodies Leadership par excellence in the much-heralded new economy where all bets are off.

    Thanks again for sharing.

    Cheers,

    Norman
