Coway MLM Review

One of the easiest ways to make extra money is to sell products in your spare time. Companies make glamorous claims about the flexible lifestyle and exaggerate the amount of money you can earn. Here is what you should know upfront. These jobs are never as easy as they are made out to be. Coway is one such company with a wide range of products. Something for everyone, you might say. In this Coway MLM review, we'll take a look at the product range to see if you can really succeed in making money here.

What is Coway?

Coway is a Korea-based multi-level marketing (MLM) company. It is now also known as LifeCare. It was established in 1989. Coway products are available in over 40 countries and have over 5,000 employees. The Coway brand is one of the best air purifier brands sold in the US. The flagship product was the Coway air purifier, which achieved a 40% market share. This air purifier has won various international awards. Since 2015, the company has achieved a constant turnover of $2 billion per year.

Are Coway Products Worth Their Price?

Coway has a versatile product line that includes air purifiers, water filters, mattresses, kitchen appliances and juicers. For example, the Coway Airmega 400 Air Purifier has one of the best reviews for air purifiers.

It has a maximum coverage of 1,560 square feet and a high CADR rating of 350.

Let's talk about CADR for a moment. CADR stands for clean air delivery rate. It's a certified measurement that reflects the efficacy of an air purifier. It measures air volume in CFM (cubic feet per minute) and has separate scores for smoke, pollen and dust. The higher the score, the better the rating. It measures the amount of smoke, dust and pollen in the air. The ranges are as follows:

Smoke CADR Scale: 0-400

Dust CADR Scale: 0-450

Pollen CADR Scale: 0-450

The HEPA filter eliminates 99% of microns in the air, including pollen, pollutants and other allergens. It features five fan modes, a timer, washable filters and comes with a limited manufacturer's warranty.

It's a popular purchase because of its effective air purification and the fact that it is so quiet. The only downside may be the price and the fact that it weighs about 25 pounds. The retail price on Amazon is $519.56

Are there cheaper air purifiers on the market? Yes, of course there are. Similar products are offered on Amazon in a price range of $99-$350.

What may set Coway products apart from others is the aftercare offered. Some products are serviced every two months at no charge.

The Coway Opportunity

Coway sales representatives are called Health Planners (HP). To become HP, you fill out a form on the website, upload your resume, and interview. If you are successful, you attend online training at Coway University.

How Much Does It Cost To Join Coway?

According to my research, no initial payment is required to join Coway. But since it is an MLM, you are also responsible for all your own expenses around selling products such as gasoline and phone calls to customers. These expenses are non-refundable and can eat into commissions.

Can You Make Money With Coway?

The commission structure includes a base commission, a bonus commission, a performance incentive, a travel bonus, and a sales quota bonus. The base commission is a flat rate of 15% for all personal sales. Using the air purification system above, you would receive a commission of only $77.40! Not great.

You also earn on all products your recruits sell, as well as commissions on equipment rentals.

Another way to earn more money is to move up to higher positions.

Pros of Coway

Free Servicing: customers who purchase a water or air purification product are entitled to free service every two months. A good selling point for certain products.

Variety of Products: As a Health Planner, you have many products to choose from to sell.

Set Your Own Schedule: Work as much or as little as you want to sell products.

Cons of Coway

Wear 3 Hats: as a Health Planner, you are responsible for selling products, providing service, and collecting rental fees, if applicable.

Products Are Expensive: the air purifier mentioned above is a good example. More than $500 for an air purifier is quite expensive and can be a hard sell to potential customers.

Strict Application Process: This is not a typical MLM where you sign up with a representative and start selling products. You will need to fill out an online application, submit your resume, and have an interview.

Customer Complaints: In the case of air purifiers, some customers have complained that the unit stopped working after four months. Others have complained about plastic shooting out of the air purifier and making a loud, rattling noise. Customer service has been disappointing. In addition, Coway does not sell replacement parts when customers have problems with the products breaking.

Is Coway A Scam?

Coway is a very successful company whose products seem to be quite popular. While it is probably not a scam, it works like all other MLMs. You have to spend your own money before you earn anything. Not a good way to start a job.

Final Thoughts

Selling products for an MLM company may be a good short-term solution, but you won't ever make decent money in the long run. The only people who make a full time income are those who have made it to the top of the ladder in these companies.
